Il Newcastle ha ufficializzato la cessione in prestito all’Anderlecht per una stagione del portiere Matz Sels. Il 25enne belga torna in patria dopo soltanto una stagione in Inghilterra con i Magpies. Benitez, infatti, lo volle fortemente nel giugno del 2016 dal Gent, club con cui ha giocato la Champions League ed è stato eletto miglior portiere del Belgio dell’anno. Nel nord d’Inghilterra Sels ha però giocato molto poco, scalando nelle gerarchie dietro al giovane Karl Darlow: 9 presenze in Championship (tra cui 5 clean sheet), 3 in FA Cup e 2 in EFL Cup.
