Alcuni tifosi del Palace hanno imbrattato il murales dedicato al capitano del Brighton e questo ha creato tensione tra le due tifoserie. Quelo che però ha fatto più scalpore è che la polizia ha tenuto fuori dallo stadio, facendo perdere il primo tempo del match, alcuni tifosi del Palace, regolarmente muniti di biglietto per la partita. Il bilancio finale è stato di sei arrestati tra i tifosi del Palace, una trasferta sicuramente più movimentata sugli spalti che in campo, dove il risultato è stato di 0-0.
